K - 5 Physical Education

Gateway’s physical education program is designed to provide activity and physical fitness while teaching hand-eye coordination, sportsmanship, team play, inclusiveness, and having fun through physical activity. Starting in second grade, children participate in regular PE classes taught by our physical education specialist. The program stresses physical fitness health, and students participate in the President’s Physical Fitness Test. Gateway’s PE program features many creative games and activities (modified to fit the grade level), as well as traditional sports: flag football, softball, basketball, hockey, ultimate Frisbee, archery, volleyball, tennis, and soccer.

Students in fifth through eighth grade may also play on after school sports teams that compete against other area schools. Gateway sports include flag football, basketball, and volleyball.

“I’m so happy we have our son at Gateway. He loves coming to school each day, and we can barely get him to go home!”

—Corinne O., Gateway parent
